3 Tips to choose the best Handlebar Phone Holder for you & your motorcycle
Finding the right motorcycle phone holder for the handlebars should be really easy. Let me show you three things that you need to consider to get your choice right.
What changed things for me is having to explain why there is this range of products who tend to ostensibly do the same thing, except for one of them costs just under £20 and the other one might cost up to £100. What the difference is between these other than the price is? You need to know 3 things:
1/ How weather proof is this thing? How does it protect your phone from rain?
2/ How usable is your phone once it is in the phone holder?
3/ And the last thing is, how does it attach to the 'bike? And do you trust that attachment to protect your phone and not fly off when you're riding at speed?
So let's go through the differences.
The Bike It Phone Mounts
Let's start at the bottom end of the scale, which is here: Just under £20 buys you this Bike It cover. It's rubberized on the zip side, so it keeps the water out (ish). I probably wouldn't trust a pouring rain, but I will trust a shower. And in the back you've got some padding which pushes the phone towards the screen so you can utilise the phone screen relatively easily. It attaches by way of a handlebar mount and this is critical: it's got this click connection between the mount and the cover. From a usability point of view, that's quite helpful because you can take the cover off separately, but whether I trust that at speed or at potholes, I'm not entirely convinced. Perhaps a great solution for urben riding. Click here 🔗
The Interphone Armor Phone Mounts
Double your money and you go here, which is a product from Interphone. The big difference here is that you've got a really waterproof case around the phone. So would I trust this in pouring rain? Yes, I would. And inside you've got a sprung area in the back which presses the phone towards the front, so you can utilise the phone screen really well. Works much better than foam inserts and you can charge the phone. The other big difference is, you attach this phone to the handlebar mount fairly permanently. So once it's in, it's in, and you would have to undo the screw to be able to take the phone case off, and you can see it's not a flat phone case at that point. So, top marks for waterproofing, top marks for safety, and top marks for using the phone via the screen. But you can't use the side buttons and this is what sets this solution apart from the next two. Click here 🔗
The SP Connect Phone Mounts
First one up is the SP Connect system. You double your money again, but you get this, which is an aluminium handlebar mount with a patented locking system that locks the phone case onto the mount. This phone case replaces your existing phone case, and it's pretty protective. So, you know, I've had one for many years on one of my phones and you can drop the phone and actually it is properly protective. What it doesn't do is, it's not permanently waterproof. So, you have to use a waterproof cover to go over the top when it rains. Now, it's included in the contents of your purchase, but you have to have it with you. Otherwise, that's not going to work well for you. But, what sets this system apart is that it is a 'system'. So if you buy into the idea, you can buy a holder for your motorbike. You can buy a holder for your car. You can buy a holder for your upper arm. So, you can go jogging with your phone. And every single time this phone case with this locking system will keep your phone securely near you regardless of what you're doing in your active lifestyle. Click here 🔗
The Ram Phone Mounts
The last one is the Ram Mount system and, in a way, it's different to all the others. The Ram Mount system, you sort of piece together as you see fit. You can have this type of holder. You can have this type of holder. It goes around a bar. You can have this type of holder that you can screw into the surface. Basically, there is a tonne of holders that enable you to put the Ram Mount bracket pretty much anywhere you like. And these connectors here, you can build them up. You can theory build a very long chain of them, which means you can put the phone holder pretty much anywhere as close or as far away from the bracket as you see fit. Now, let's move on to the phone holder itself. It's an X-Grip, as they call it. It's a sprung system that holds the phone inside of those four pegs. You have to have a level of belief that that is a safe way of transporting an £800 phone. But it is. We've tried it on off road tracks. The phone does not come off. But if you are of less belief than I am, there is a sort of rubberized netting system as well to keep the phone in even more securely. What you don't get on this system, despite all this versatility, you don't get weather protection. So you need to have a phone cover that is weatherproof. Click here 🔗
So to make your choice, you need to consider three things.
1. One is how does the mobile mount attached to the motorcycle handlebar, and is it safe?
2. Two, how easy is it to use the phone while the phone is mounted on the motorcycle handlebars?
3. And third is how weather proof is this arrangement?
So, choose well and down below, there's a savings code to sweeten the deal a little bit for you today because you've watch the video.
